Lottery Process
LOTTERY REGISTRATION OPENS SEPTEMBER 1, 2012

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Online registration to enter the lottery will open on September 1, 2012. Registration for the lottery will be available HERE through the official event website. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
Registration for the lottery will CLOSE on October 26, 2012.
There will be two lottery drawings. The first lottery selection round closes on September 28, 2012.
The first drawing will take place on September 29 and selected names will be posted online by October 2, 2012.
Lottery selectees MUST find their name, click on their unique registration link, complete registration, and complete payment in order to be officially registered in the race. For the first lottery selection, this must be completed by October 26,2012. If you do not complete this process by Oct 26, your will have forfeited your entry into this race. There are NO EXCUSES and NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.
Those enterting the lottery after Sept 28 and all those NOT selected in the first lottery will be eligible for the second lottery. Those who did not accept their first round lottery entry will NOT be eligible for the second lottery.
The second lottery selection round closes on October 26, 2012.
The second drawing will take place on October 27 and selected names will be posted online by October 30, 2012.
Second round lottery selectees MUST find their name, click on their unique registration link, complete registration, and complete payment in order to be officially registered in the race. For the second lottery selection, this must be completed by November 25, 2012. If you do not complete this process by Nov 25, your will have forfeited your entry into this race. There are NO EXCUSES and NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.
- A maximum of 2,000 participants are allowed in the race. Approximately 1700 are selected through the lottery process.
- Participants will be chosen from the following groups in order:
- Those who have competed 3 or more times (in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon)
- Open random draw from all those remaining
(The drawing is selected at random by computer, however the selection process will ensure selection of at least one male and one female from all 50 states and at least 10% international particpation)
- NEW THIS YEAR: There will be a fee of $20 to enter the lottery. Those accepted in the lottery will have this fee applied toward their entry fee upon acceptance of the lottery win and completeion of race registration. Why am I being charged $20? CLICK HERE
*Professionals, Challenged Athletes, Open Relay Teams, and Corporate Challenge Teams will participate in open registration and are not subject to selection through the lottery process.
