Shipping your bike to the Accenture Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon has NEVER been easier. Sports Basement and TriBike Transport have partners to offer two convenient options for getting your bike to San Francisco. Let us handle the most worrisome part of racing (no, not the Alcatraz swim) but rather helping you get your bike to the race site!
For both convenient options, you pick up your bike before the race at Sports Basement Presidio (610 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94129), which is located across from Crissy Field, a short distance (under 1 mile) from the transition area.
Please read over the details of both to decide the best option for you.
Option 1: TriBike Transport
The key difference with this option is that your bike remains fully assembled and is transported in a large cargo van with other bikes to Sports Basement for the race and returned to you using the same method.
Option 2: Ship to Sport Basement
The key difference with this option is that your bike is disassembled, shipped to Sports Basement and then reassembled at Sports Basement for Escape from Alcatraz. After the race, your bike is disassembled and shipped back to you.
Option 1: TriBike Transport Details and Reservation Process
With TriBike Transport, you drop off your bike, fully assembled (you just need to remove your pedals), at conveniently located partner bike shops across the US. In San Francisco you then pick up your bike at Sports Basement. Your bike is never disassembled or packed in a case. Post race, you drop off your bike at TriBike and it’s then returned to your local shop for you to pick up at your convenience after you get home.
This hassle-free convenience is $225 for the round trip ($175 from Southern California). In addition, $1000 of insurance is included with your reservation with supplemental coverage available for only $6/$1000.

Option 2: Ship to Sport Basement Details and Reservation Process
Sports Basement accepts 200 bikes for assembly, disassembly and return shipping, so act fast by emailing Sports Basement now to make a reservation

Wait for a reply email confirming that your reservation has been accepted once your reservation has been confirmed follow the instructions below
Important Details:
- Bikes need to be shipped race-ready; the cost noted below is for assembly, disassembly and return shipping
- Racers need to get their tune-ups before the bike is shipped to Sports Basement
- Racers should mark their seat and aero bar position with tape
- Racers should send only their bike and saddle bag, no helmets, shoes or clothes
- Your shipping box needs to be well –marked with your return address

- Name
- Return shipping address
- Your San Francisco address
- Cell number (or another number where you can be reach in SF)
We encourage you to insure your bike in it’s transit to Sports Basement
The day you ship your bike, email Alcatrazbike@sportsbasement.com with the following information:
- Name
- Tracking number
- Bike make, model, size and value
Assembly & Disassembly Details:
- Bikes must arrive to Sports Basement Presidio between Thursday, May 29th and Wednesday, June 4th
- Sports Basement cannot guarantee that bikes received after Wednesday, June 4th will be ready for race day
- Bikes will be assembled in the order received
- Your bike will be unpacked, built and checked by one of the trained mechanics of Sports Basement
- Sports Basement will store your bike case
- Sports Basement will call you when your bike is ready for pick up
- After the race, Sports Basement will disassemble, re-pack your bike and ship it home to you via Fed-Ex Ground. Note that Fed Ex Ground takes up to 6 business days to deliver. Other shipping arrangements can be made upon request
- Bike shipped from Sports Basement will be insured for damage that occurs during return transit
Cost:
- $175 flat fee for assembly, disassembly/repacking and return shipping Fed Ex Ground. The $175 does not include the cost of shipping your bike to us
- No other discounts apply
- Fee is paid when you pick-up your bike
